SPEARHEADING CROSS-FUNCTIONAL TEAMS

I am a lawyer specializing in copyright and media law. My focus? Digital global licensing law in the creative industries, especially in the music industry. Copyright law is the basis for all deal-making in the creative industries and my expertise as a registered expert lawyer is in this field.

I have been working as a manager in companies for many years. I build diverse and solution focused driven teams and lead them through cross-functional complex international negotiations. As SVP Music Licensing and Deputy General Counsel, I am currently part of the management team at Soundcloud Global Limited & Co. KG. There I am responsible for all digital license agreements and actively shape the transformation of Soundcloud. Soundcloud is an “artist first” company; Artists are at the forefront of all interests, which is of great importance to me and my motivation to contribute to a level playing field in the creative industries as a lawyer.

Previously, I was Global General Counsel and CHRO at BMG Rights Management GmbH here, too, it was the values of “fairness, transparency and service” that convinced me.

I am fascinated by topics in which the world of contracts and the law come up against emotional challenges. I find the clash of unequal power relations particularly fascinating – for example between artists and major labels. As an internationally experienced negotiator, I focus on these seemingly insurmountable conflicts of interest to find solutions which work for both sides and the different interests of the stakeholders.
